Friends, Romans, c*nty men:
February 4th, 2024 marks the first anniversary of this newsletter. And honestly? I am proud of myself!
Those of you who have known me for a while might recall that I have tried several times in the past to become a blogger. Each time, I would come up with a clever lil name, spend roughly a week designing the graphics for it, publish one to two entries, and then completely abandon it, only to rediscover it while googling myself two years later.
While writing this post, I tried to find evidence of these past relics, and actually did stumble upon my study abroad blog, which is somehow even more cringe than I expected it to be. I wrote it ten years ago, which is impossible to wrap my head around. That said, I am pleased to announce that my reference pool has not changed in the slightest:
Anyway. A very happy birthday to Vivid and Pressing Fancies. I decided to search for who else shared its birthday, and this image made me laugh out loud in a coffee shop:
When I began this newsletter, I was uncertain of what it would become, and how long I could sustain it, so I avoided a paid tier. I feel confident enough now in its longevity to accept the pledges for payment made over the course of last year (I’ll be beginning that process on Feb. 4, so you have time to retract it if I have disappointed you since you pledged).
If you too would like to support this newsletter financially, that would be really cool! If you’d like to support me non-financially, a great way to do that is forwarding a favorite post to a friend you think might enjoy them, or an enemy who may feel threatened by my writing prowess.
Lastly, as a one-year anniversary thank you, I’ve written a crossword puzzle, the theme of which is this newsletter. A reading comprehension test, if you will…
Enjoy, and let me know if you finish it! More goodies coming soon, I promise.
Looking forward to another year of exploring,
Johnny
